Every MES environment requires a sync of XA every 5 minutes.  The sync ensures that MES knows the latest updates of orders, items, inventory balances, etc.  Occasionally, XA requires a downtime planned or otherwise.  In many cases, the mini-sync can and will run as MES is unaware of the current state of XA.  However, if the downtime is planned, the email messages become an annoyance triggered every 5 minutes.  In this article, we'll review options to disable the sync to avoid unnecessary attempts to sync or send emails for planned events.

Windows Services Control Panel

The sync process is controlled through a Windows service.  The running state of the service is controlled through the Services Control Panel.  The service, PaperLess OAGIS Synchronizer, defaults the start type to "Automatic."  In this case, the service will automatically start when Windows has finished its boot-up process.

Stop PaperLess OAGIS Synchronizer

To stop the Synchronizer, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Services control panel (press Windows Key, type services.msc, and enter).
  2. Scroll to find PaperLess OAGIS Synchronizer NOTE: when running, the status is "Running."
  3. Right-click on PaperLess OAGIS Synchronizer.
  4. Select and click Stop from the context menu.

Once the service has stopped, the status will show blank.  The mini-sync process is now turned off.  The flow of data from XA to MES is now stopped.   After that, no emails related to the sync process will be sent.
